The Legend of the Turtle Bridge

When Linda and Chris were children the trip to Falls City occurred probably every month or two.   Each time the same little bridge was crossed over, and each time, Milton (their Dad) would say, There are turtles in this creek.   The children, and Theo were skeptical.  Therefore, while returning from one of their trips, Milton pulled the car over, everyone got out and they looked into the creek.   Sure enough, there were several turtles sunning themselves and we startled some and they jumped in the water.

From that day until now, whenever we cross that bridge, we all say ”There are turtles in that creek!” in honor of Milton (our father, grandfather and great grandfather) who made us aware of that fact, even if the turtles  are there today or not.
